Adding a product to VirtueMart (jce editor installed)
Step 1 – Login to the backend of your website
After logging in to the back end of Your Joomla installation, go to
Components > VirtueMart
Step 2 – VirtueMart will open
From the Admin panel on the left hand side of your screen select
Products > Add Product
Step 3 – Product information
1 – SKU – enter your product code.
2 – Name – The product name/title
3 – Categories – Select the category the product will be listed under
4 – Product Price – eg. 12.50 (do not enter a £ this is displayed by the cart automatically)
5 – Short Description – This appears as an intro to the product before the customer clicks for fully details
6 – Product Description – Here you would enter the full description of your product, this information can be styled using the editing tools found above the text box.
Keep this New Product Window open and navigate the tabs at the top
Step 4 – Product Status
1 – if you are using stock control, enter your current level of stock here
2 – If a product is coming into stock on a particular date, add that informmation here
3 – A product supply time can be added here. eg. 10 days (useful if an item is being made to order)

Step 5 – Product dimensions and weight
1 – enter the weight of your product in grammes (a must if you are using weight based shipping)
2 – grammes as the unit of measurement
Keep this New Product Window open and navigate the tabs at the top.
Step 6 – Product Images
1 – Click browse to find and upload the product images from your computer
2 – Check the Auto-Create Thumbnail ( this will make the thumbnail image for your categories and intros etc.)
Step 7 Save and Check
1 – you will find the save button above the new product window – click this
Now visit your website and you will see your new product has been added, if you need to make any changes to the product you can edit your product in the same way.
